| "On a stormy night, Sugar, my mixed-breed rescue, panicked at the noise and went out an unsecured window into the storm. Over the next few weeks, I did everything recommended to find a lost dog – flyers, ads, phone calls, shelter visits – but I finally, tearfully, faced the fact that Sugar was lost to me. Six months later, I got a call from a vet’s office about forty miles north. A client had found a dog with my microchip. As a representative of Great Pyrenees Rescue, all of my personal dogs and rescues had been microchipped. Thinking it was one of our past rescues whose chip had not been re-registered, I drove to the vet’s office. Imagine my delight when a brown and white bundle of long legs launched into my arms – it was Sugar! She had been found wandering along a mountain road about thirty miles east – nearly seventy miles and two counties from where she had been lost. Obviously, she had gotten a ride to wherever she wound up, which explained why my efforts to find her were in vain. But the registered microchip served as her eventual ticket home. "

Husky), had broken out of the house and yard. It was 2:30am when

from not locating her in the neighborhood, we all went to bed.

on their walk, and was about 2 blocks away. His escape, romp through
the woods, and being found and returned to the sitter happened
